Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are provided to Black Lake First Nation, Fond du Lac First Nation, Stony Rapids, Uranium City and Camsell Portage and to access emergency/tertiary care services in Prince Albert and Saskatoon.
The Road Ambulance Service started providing service in Black Lake, Stony Rapids and the surrounding area on April 23, 2019 which created six additional paramedic jobs in Black Lake. The start of the ambulance service in Black Lake also required SaskTel to activate 911 Service in the Athabasca Basin which became effective in the Fall of 2019.
AHA continues to contract Transwest Air to provide Basic to Intermediate MedEvac Service in the Athabasca Basin. Transwest’s contract was extended to March 31, 2020 and effective April 1, 2020 the Athabasca Health Authority entered into a new three-year agreement with Transwest Air.
